MEMORIAL DAY OBSERVANCES
Two traditional ceremonies highlight Bolton’s observance of Memorial Day. At 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 29, members of the First Parish of Bolton will walk in procession from the church at 673 Main St. to the War Memorial on Wattaquodock Hill Road. Joined by members of the 10th Massachusetts Battery with Civil War-era uniforms and muskets, church members and friends will have a service of remembrance, which will conclude with a salute fired by the 10th Mass. Following the service, a reception will be held at the church in Davis Hall.

On Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, a procession of cars will leave from the Public Safety Building on Wattaquodock Hill Road at 9 a.m. to continue the decades-old custom of decorating the graves of veterans and public safety personnel in each of Bolton’s four cemeteries. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, police, fire, and EMTs will place flowers at each grave. The concluding ceremony will be held at the War Memorial on Wattaquodock Hill Road at approximately 10:20 a.m. There, the scouts will lead a flag ceremony. Refreshments provided by Bolton Parks and Recreation Commission will follow. All are invited to participate in this unique tradition.
